WHAT IT TAKES TO GET LEADS TO YOUR WEB PAGE
by Lon Lindsey
It is not unreasonable to expect at least 10% of your leads to
respond favorably to your request that they come to your website,
but don't expect that to happen as easily as we would all like.
Remember, leads are people and "different strokes for different folks"
certainly applies. If you generate your leads, yourself, or if you
purchase them from a lead-generating company, you now own those leads
and they are yours to work over a period of time. That means you
don't just email them one message and expect to get 10% of them to
go to your webpage. What it means is you email them until they say
"Uncle" or until they ask you to remove them from your mailings. . . .
and when they do request such, it is important that you do so.
So . . . .to get at least a 10% positive action response from your
leads, you must use a variety of messages to get their attention.
Remember, what may get the attention of one person will only be a
"delete message" response to another and vice versa.
Also, remember this when you are sending out messages. What is it
you have that your leads will want? What is it you can provide them
to take the kind of action you want them to take? Again, it is not
any one thing. It is a variety of things. That is why you must send
different messages each time and offer different benefits.
What can you offer? First of all, you can offer a business
opportunity as that may be why they are a business lead in the first
place. You could offer them a free report related to their interest.
You could offer them incentives and bonuses for going to your
webpage and taking a certain action.
In my own situation, when I get my leads, I plug them right into my
contact manager and let it do the follow-ups for me. What can you
expect? If you have 100 leads with valid email addresses, you would
probably get 1 - 5 people who will come to your page depending on
several factors like interest, motivation, ad copy, etc. . . .but you
might get zero! There are simply no guarantees. The hope is you
will have effective follow-up messages that will get a few people
to your web page and take action, BUT I consider this approach only
one approach, even though they may get several on going follow-up
messages.
Another approach is providing your leads with free information . . .
information of value to them. If you purchase your leads from a
leads company, then you know your leads are business minded.
We just don't know, yet, if network marketing is what they will
settle on or what their specific situation is. Perhaps they are
trying to determine that for themselves. This gives you another
opportunity! It allows you to provide them some information about
the network marketing industry, in such a way that they could
benefit from the information you send them as they try to determine
if network marketing is what they want to do.
With the leads I use, I am given information indicating whether a
person is just now considering MLM, previously involved in MLM or
currently involved in MLM. I am finding a majority of the leads are
just now considering MLM or are new to the industry. What an
opportunity! You can, now, become a valuable source to them by
providing them information that will be helpful in their determining
what they want to do .. . and, yes, you might have a big influence
toward that decsion.
So, how do you do that? You provide them with articles that will
help them. Articles about the network marketing industry. As an
example of what I do, I send out an email that has a subject
"Be Careful! Were you Expecting This?" and in my message it states
that I was informed that they are considering network marketing
and they need to be careful and know what they are going into. I,
then, send them to Masternetworker@Biz-E-Bot.com for a series of
informational messages that will help them determine if network
marketing is for them. I even provide a home-business compatibility
assessment so a person can have an indication if he/she is "cut out"
for a home-based network marketing business. For that assessment,
go to http://www.masternetworker.com/test/ (Go take it and see how
you score) Now . . . this does not get them directly to my webpage,
but what it does do is allow me to "connect" with them, build up some
credibility with them and to establish myself with them as someone
who can be of help to them. In other words, they become my "warm
market" rather than my "cool market."
This approach takes some time and some creativity, but anything
worth working toward is worth working for. There are articles
available all over the net that you can use simply by giving the
author credit.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with a very direct approach message
that talks about your business and the products.
Another thought is to offer incentives to get people to fo to your
I know of a person who is giving away vacation certificates good for
three days and two nights lodging at some resort areas. I have
another person who gives away a $5.00 phone card if the lead will go
to their webpage and take the desired action. Yes, that is another
cost of building a business and that is the cost some people are
willing to pay in order to build a long-term residual income.
So, getting people to your webpage is based on your doing
several different things . . .all during a short period of time.
It's about having several things going on at the same time. It's
about having a good source of leads and it's about having enough
leads that you can utilize the strategies I mentioned above.
I purposely left this final strategy until now because I didn't want
to scare you off. If you want to get 20% - 30% of your leads to your
webpages, use the phone. There is nothing more effective than
letting the lead know there is a real person who is sending them
email messages . . especially messages that could benefit them.
The lead providing company I use will provide you with training on
how to do this . . what to day .. . how to be effective in using the
phone as a recruiting tool. This approach is not for everyone, but
for those people who do not have a fear of calling people and for
those people who know that building a business is simply a matter of
saying "next" after each no . . . knowing that each "no" is closer to
another "yes" .. .those people will have tremendous results. Why?
Because most people won't do this and for those who will, they have
a tremendous advantage. Remember, these leads are also being
contacted by approximately 10 other people who want to present their
opportunity to them . . .but 9 out of the ten will NOT call them.
Making a phone call will give you the biggest bang for your buck and
it's alot less work than having to utilize some of the methods above.
I know one person who times his calls to when he thinks the person
will be gone to work so he can leave a message on the answering
machine. He simply says, "I was told that you are considering a
home-based business on a part-time basis, and want to give you the
URL of a business we are building totally by the Internet."
Below I have sources of important tools you can use to help you
get your leads to your website.
